About Us
Hi! I’m Bob McCluskey. Basically, I am a teacher. In fact, I’ve taught every level of school we have in North America, from preschool to university! And, yes… that includes kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade and… well, you get the point!
In 1977 I moved from K-12 to the college sphere. Since my university degrees are primarily related to Psychology, they put me to work teaching Psychology to college freshmen and sophomores. As I have personally grown older, I have become more and more interested in teaching older folks. In recent years I have developed and taught numerous courses for senior citizens, including a senior citizen Psychology course!
As a senior myself, I am intensely excited about recent developments in the field of the maturing brain, especially as related to memory. For years I accepted the general wisdom that aging was a process of mental decline, and the myth that “We are born with all the brain cells we will ever have.” Now we know that this is simply not true! Our brains not only continue to grow as we age, we can do lots of things to help the process along. Your later years can be your best years and, well, that’s what this website is all about! It is an ever-growing and serious resource for senior citizens, those who care for seniors and those who aspire to become seniors!
As I said in the beginning, I am a teacher. Here I will teach you about research, products and services related to aging and mental health, especially memory. I hope you are as excited and encouraged as I am about this journey!
